TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) — The defense lawyer for the Tunisian member of Ukrainian women's group Femen says one of the charges against her client has been dismissed.
Leila Ben Debba said that the court Monday tossed out the charge of insulting and defaming a public servant brought against her client Amina Sboui.
The charge stemmed from an incident in prison when Sboui got into an altercation with guards she alleged were mistreating a fellow inmate.
Sboui was arrested May 19 for allegedly scrawling Femen on a cemetery wall in the city of Kairouan, protesting a planned conference of conservative Muslims.
She is in prison pending trial on the charge of desecrating a cemetery.
