Inna Shevchenko, a member of the Ukrainian protest group Femen, has received political asylum in France. She fled Ukraine for France in August 2012 after Femen activists used a chainsaw to cut down a large cross in Kyiv to show support for jailed members of the Russian punk collective Pussy Riot. Shevchenko applied for asylum in France based on fears that she would face persecution in Ukraine for her political activities. She has since helped Femen create a training center in Paris for activists protesting "in high-risk environments." (Reuters video)
