Femen Activist Raped, Burned, Left for Dead: Corrupt Ukraine Releases …

Activists of the Ukrainian women's movement FEMEN stage a protest

For those of us who have been following the brave and beautiful Femen activists of the Ukraine, this terrible news will come as quite a shock. Oksana Makar, a young Ukrainian girl, has miraculously survived an ordeal so horrific that it is almost beyond belief.

"Earlier this week in an abandoned construction site in Nikolaev, Ukraine, an unnamed individual noticed a charred blanket with something moving beneath. As he approached, horror struck. Contained within the blanket was a badly beaten, raped and charred girl, Oksana Makar. The man immediately contacted the police who quickly rushed her to the hospital. Her state was so shocking that the fact she was still alive, and is still alive today, baffled many. Over 50% of her body was burned, with some of the bones in her lower limbs apparently turned to ash. After amputating both legs and her right arm, the police were able to get a statement from the girl. Her story left the entire community in shock." mizozo.com

Shock turned to rage when two of the men accused were released due to their standing as sons of prominent wealthy members of the community. Three men were accused of luring Oksana to an apartment, where they raped and choked her, then took her to the abandoned warehouse where they set fire to her. However the two released were from prominent families, while the one kept in jail was not. This fact was not lost upon the people of Nikolaev, where corruption is rampant.

"Upon their release, protesters quickly hit the streets of Nikolaev. The fact that these two were about to get away with such a gruesome crime struck a nerve, as can be imagined. After some protest, the police re-arrested the two freed men. Of course, they will not admit that this had anything to do with the protest, instead claiming that new evidence came up. However, the protesters refuse to step down. They demand harsh punishment for the men and insist that they will gladly dish out the punishment themselves if the police are unwilling." mizozo.com

Oksana was able to speak to investigators from her hospital bed. Here is an excerpt from a blog dedicated to her story.

"Oksana, you remember what happened to you? Oksana: Yes. I remember the bar and how we went to visit. Then I lost consciousness. Gap ... I remember when I was choked. And when I returned to conciousness. I remember myself lying during the night. I thought would not survive. Could not feel the body. At first, was screaming for help. But there was nobody there. Began to pray. I thought I had died. All I remember how as if in fog. Mom: We are told police everything. What do you think about this miraculous escape? What do you think? Oksana: Perhaps God decided so. If He did not let me die, then for some reason it is necessary. I will survive. I will try very hard. Very hard!Mom (crying): My child has survived. And this is important. Everybody counted that she would die. And will not give evidence. But she survived."

The brave Femen warriors are asking that we show our support for Oksana through prayers and sending messages of love, and many have donated money and gifts to the young 18 year old beauty, who will now never walk again. She has lost both feet and an arm, and is still on the brink of death, with her liver exposed and shutting down.
