FEMEN Promises to "Go back and Destroy Lukashenko"

Wednesday, February 1, FEMEN girls held another protest against the Belarusian authorities. This time the activists came to the building of the International Ice Hockey Federation in Zurich. They were holding posters reading "Slave can’t play hockey," "Do not encourage dictatorship," "Lukashenko, let’s play at the Hague," "Withdraw championship from dictatorship!" encouraging the federation management not to hold the world championship in 2014 in Minsk.

FEMEN activists find unacceptable the position of Hockey Federation, which "supports and enables such a dictatorial country as Belarus and Lukashenko himself to receive a gift in order to cover up the reality in Belarus," Radio "Liberty."

"We’ve come to the office of the International Federation in order to demand, not ask, but demand deprivation of Lukashenko’s right to hold the championship. As the Belarusian President destroys his own people, puts them in jail and tortures them (by the way, we were some of them). Therefore it is our duty to make sure that Lukashenko won’t get such a gift," said activist Inna Shevchenko.

As Telegraf previously reported, the activist of the Ukrainian women's movement FEMEN held a rally near the KGB building in Minsk on December 19 against the confinement of the Belarusian opposition in jail. The rally was dispersed by the authorities, while the girls were detained and taken to the woods in Homel voblast by unknown people, who abused the activists in every way.

Ministry of Internal Affairs investigated into the kidnapping of the Ukrainian activists, but refused to initiate criminal proceedings. However, the Interior Ministry says the information, spread by the FEMEN members after scandalous "naked" action in front of the KGB, was not confirmed.
