Femen protest in Amsterdam

Monday 29 July 2013

The Netherlands on Monday saw its first Femen protest, although just four activists took part.

The four women followed the Femen style, with bared breasts and slogans written on their upper bodies such as Free Russia and Free Speech. They also carried the rainbow flag of the gay movement during the protest at the homo monument in Amsterdam.

They were protesting against Russian president Vladimir Putin's anti-gay policy and the arrest on Saturday of three Femen activists in the Ukraine.

Femen was founded in the Ukraine in 2008 and has now grown into an international protest movement.
