A retinal implant -- or bionic eye -- which is powered by light has been invented by scientists in California.

Implants currently used in patients need to be powered by a battery. The new device, described in the journal 'Nature Photonics', uses a special pair of glasses to beam near infrared light into the eye to power the implant.

A Ukrainian women's rights activist stripped to the waist and seized the Euro-2012 soccer trophy while it was on public display in Kyiv at the weekend in protest against the upcoming championship.

Buffalo in street rampage hurts 10

A water buffalo injured 10 people in central Vietnam when it rampaged through crowded streets, across a river and through a house before being shot at a kindergarten.

It ran wild for about three hours over nearly 12 miles in Hue City. The animal broke down the wooden door of a house, where it collapsed a bed as three family members fled in terror.
