Topless poll thieves and victory tear from Putin

President-elect and machoman Vladimir Putin shed a tear, Femen activists from Ukraine took off their bras and tried to steal a ballot box at the polling station where Putin and his wife Lyudmila cast their vote, and the Opposition shed light on largescale rigging during the presidential elections. Putin, whose new presidential mandate is for six years, will return to the Kremlin at a time of rapid social change in a Russia that is seeing an increasingly critical middle-class and an explosion in Internet use. But these concerns did not spoil Putin's mood on Monday night as he addressed over 100,000 >>>

Femen Sentenced for Topless Protest

A Moscow court Monday upheld sentences ranging from five to 12 days for three activists from the Ukrainian group Femen who were detained for staging a topless protest at the polling station where Vladimir Putin cast his vote, their lawyer told RIA-Novosti. Violetta Volkova said the court dismissed arguments that the action was a political protest and said it considered it rank exhibitionism. They were convicted of disorderly conduct. Barely a scuffle: FEMEN girl attacks MP (VIDEO)

A brawl between a FEMEN activist - not topless this time incidentally - and a Ukranian MP occurred during a live TV show in Ukraine. The host asked the girl to comment on the protest group’s naked action during the presidential election in Russia. The girl instead called on her countrymen to renew protest actions against Ukrainian authorities, a suggestion which made the parliamentary deputy from the ruling party call her a “prostitute”. However the blonde was no shrinking violet. Rather she is an experienced protester. She assaulted the statesman, who argued she is a “mentally-ill >>>

Putin Wins A Battle, But Is He Losing The War?

Brian Whitmore, FE/RL March 05, 2012 When Prime Minister Vladimir Putin went to the polls in Russia's weekend presidential election, he accidentally dropped his ballot paper on the floor before casting his vote. Shortly after he left the polling station, activists from the Ukrainian women's rights group Femen showed up, stripped off their shirts, and tried to steal the ballot box while chanting "Putin is a thief" before being hauled off by police. Minor indignities for the Russian leader, to be sure. But the symbolism was lost on few. Putin claimed a decisive victory >>>

Russia to Expel Femen Activists After Naked Protest at Polls

Three feminist activities from Ukraine who paraded half naked at a polling station to protest against Vladimir Putin will be expelled from the country. The women, members of the Femen radical feminist group, stripped to their waists and paraded at a polling station to draw attention to widespread claims of vote-rigging at the presidential polls. They had "I steal for Putin" written on their bodies and shouted anti-Putin slogans. Police dragged them away minutes before Putin and his wife arrived to cast their vote in an election already considered to be in the bag for the incumbent prime minister. In >>>

Russia to Expel Topless Protesters

Migration authorities will expel notorious Ukrainian female activists who stripped at a polling station in Moscow to protest alleged violations at the Russian presidential elections. Federal Migration Service is preparing paperwork to have the three activists of the Femen group kicked out of the country, the Interior Ministry said on Monday, without providing a timeframe for the expulsion. Three members of the extravagant protest group stripped on Sunday at a polling station where Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, a favorite of the race, voted that day. The activists had “I steal for Putin” written >>>
