(ANSAmed) - ANKARA, OCTOBER 30 - The bare-breasted protestors
of Femen, a group created in Ukraine and now present in Europe
and the Middle East, made a tense debut Wednesday in Turkey.
Femen had recently opened an office in Istanbul as well as
the Twitter account '@Femen_Turkey', in which it calls itself an
''international feminist organisation'' and urges Turkish women
to join their struggle against the sex industry, dictatorships
and the exploitation of religion.
Many young Turkish women joined and posted topless photos of
themselves on the page, some with a Turkish flag painted on
their chests.
One of the first to do so, the artist Didem Dinc, has since
decided to ''disengage'' from the group, reports Hurriyet
Online. Her reaction stemmed from a tweet posted on the site:
''The Bible, Quran and Torah are all the same sh*t. We are
against religious exploitation!''.''Opposing religious
exploitation doesn't mean religion can be disrespected. I have
no connection with the insulting tweet about religions that was
sent by the @Femen_Turkey account,'' Dinc said. (ANSAmed).
