Femen movie trailer: Ukraine is Not a Brothel

Watching the trailer above, it's easy to conclude that all women from Ukraine are thin, attractive, and militantly antipatriarchal.

In fact, the truth is somewhat different.

But Femen, which was founded in Ukraine, has been stirring up a lot of controversy around the world with its sextremist topless protests featuring thin young women.

Meanwhile, the documentary Ukraine is Not a Brothel has attracted attention for exposing the role of as male political scientist, Victor Svyatstski, in the founding of the organization.

In an interview with Der Spiegel earlier this year, Svyatski described how he had to flee Ukraine after being assaulted on two occasions.

He's often been called the group's "puppet master" in Ukraine, according to the German news magazine.

Svyatski rejects that, claiming that he's always worked in "close coordination" with Femen, which he calls a "group effort".

"I am no tyrant," Svyatski told Der Spiegel.
