Radical activists with the Ukrainian women's group Femen conducted a late-night protest against the man known as Europe's last dictator.

The authoritarian president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, was at a well-guarded home he keeps in Kyiv when a group of women approached the gate.

The protesters removed their tops to expose statements such as "Dictator get out", "Fuck Dictator", and "Viva Belarus" across their chests and backs.

Security officials hauled them away.

Last year, Lukashenko bragged to Reuters about being the "last and only dictator in Europe", where he controls every seat in Parliament.

He came to power in 1994 and holds sham elections to uphold his legitimacy.

His closest rival, former deputy foreign minister Andrei Sannikov, was reportedly tortured by prison officials, who tried to get him to commit suicide. 

Sannikov, who received 2.6 percent of the vote in 2010, is in exile in Britain.

In an interview with the Guardian last year, Sannikov described in graphic detail how he was beaten unconscious by riot police at a rally.

Guards refused to provide medical treatment to the former diplomat after he was thrown in jail.

Belarus is a landlocked country of 9.6 million bordering Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia. The capital is Minsk.
