Davos: Three topless female protesters from FEMEN were detained and then released by police here in Switzerland. They were carrying banners that read "Gangsters party in Davos" and "Crisis made in Davos" while shouting "Poor because of you" outside a World Economic Forum event here.
According to reports, they were stopped at the gates as world economic and business leaders met inside a complex.
A representative of the group said they had come here to explain the position of all poor people of the world and it was because of those "rich people" sitting in the building.
Pictures show the girls trying to climb over a fence. Reports say that it was then when the police detained them. Pictures also show snow around the area indicating that the temperatures is freezing.
FEMEN is known for topless women drawing attention to political causes. Reports say that they have appeared outside the trial for former Ukraine Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and railed against sex tourism and women’s rights in the Middle East.
