Paris: Nun Protests with Topless Femen Activists in French Gang Rape Case …

A French nun posed for pictures amid topless protesters from the feminist radical group Femen, in support of a demonstration against the acquittal of ten men accused of raping two teenage girls.

Members of the Ukrainian women's group rallied in front of the French Minister of Justice at Place Vendome, in Paris

Sister Veronique, from the Dominican monastic order, was reportedly passing by the famous square, when she was stopped by a reporter asking her what her thoughts about the unusual demonstration were.

Informed of the protest's causes, she decided to join in for the surprise of photographers, local media reported.

Femen activists climbed on the Ministry's windows and waved banners or flaunted messages written on their chests that read "Free Rape," "Rape Club" and "Justice F***s me".

As Sister Veronique approached them they gathered for a group photo.

The protest followed the acquittal of 10 of the 14 men accused of gang-raping two teenage girls over several years in the Paris suburb of Fontenay-sous-Bois at the end of the 90s'.

The trial shocked France, revealing a sordid and violent teenage underground world in some of Paris suburbs.

Ten of the accused were discharged by the Assize Court of Val-de-Marne for lack of evidence, while the others were given light sentences ranging for one year suspended to three year jail.

The decision was described, as a "judicial shipwreck" by the plaintiffs' lawyer.

"Congratulations gentlemen! Paris is now the capital of love and the capital of rapists," Femen wrote on its website.
