Die Staatsanwaltschaft hat für die Künstlerinnen Nadeschda Tolokonnikowa (22), Maria Aljochina (24) und Jekaterina Samuzewitsch (30) drei Jahre Gefängnis beantragt, die Verteidigung Freispruch. Die Anwälte von Pussy Riot wollen das Urteil in der nächsten Instanz anfechten. Vor dem Gericht protestierten Anhänger gegen den Schuldspruch. Weltweit fanden Protestaktionen statt, auch die Femen-Aktivistinnen solidarisierten sich mit Pussy Riot.

Unmittelbar vor dem Urteil gegen drei Mitglieder der kremlkritischen Punkband Pussy Riot haben die Anwälte der drei Angeklagten deren Anhänger zur Unterstützung vor dem Gericht aufgerufen. Sie sollten aber ohne Masken, Fahnen und Transparente erscheinen, um nicht wegen einer illegalen Kundgebung festgenommen zu werden, sagte Verteidiger Mark Fejgin der Zeitung „Nowyje Iswestija“. Über soziale Netzwerke kündigten sich etwa 700 Unterstützer an. Die Moskauer Polizei sperrte das Gerichtsgebäude nahe dem Moskwa-Fluss ab.
